Mike in London

On of my best friends from high school came by London to visit since he was in Europe at the time visiting his girlfriend's home in Germany. It was really awesome showing someone round my new "home away from home" (I think NZ will always be home, for me). As well as that it gave me an opportunity to finally do a bit of London sight seeing which, despite living here for 5 months now, I'd not yet done.

We tried to cover all the major sites, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliment, The London Eye, Westminster Abbey, Horseguards, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column, The Tower of London, Tower Bridge, St. Paul's Cathedral and The Millenium Bridge, The Globe Theatre and The Tate Modern.

As well as all these locations we went through Leicester Square, Covent Garden, Piccadilly Circus and a number of other Monopoly Board Locations.

The major event was Arsenal vs. Manchester United which was, I would say, THE BEST game at Emirates Stadium this season (I would say that as Arsenal came from behind to win 2-1). The atmosphere was unbelievable, we had great seats and the game was electric - awesome!

We also went to see a West End show - Blue Man Group. This was a sort of a like a bunch of smurfs who are mute clowns fueled by rock music....sort of. It was like nothing I've ever seen before and it was FANTASTIC!!

And yet, there's so much more to see such as the huge list of museums (not really Mike's thing), Madame Tussaud's, Kensington Palace, Hampton Court, The Banqueting Hall, The Tate Britain, the list goes on and on. London really is an amazing mix of ancient and modern architecture, diverse culture, and buzzing with life. I hope Mike is just the first of many friends to come and visit.
