Life in London

Well, after travelling the world for four months I've finally decided to settle down a little. This was mostly due to having run out of money, but also because living in England for a while was always part of the master plan.

So, I now live in Fulham, London and catch the tube into the heart of the city each day. I have a job with a large international engineering firm called Arup working as a geotechnical engineer. I'm earning heaps when you turn it into $NZ but when you take into account the cost of living over here (especially in London!) I'm in about the same sort of financial situation as I was in New Zealand.

I'm staying in a flat above a Tesco Express (basically a convenience store for those who aren't familiar with English shops) with two girls. Niamh (pronounced "Neeve") is Irish and works as a BBC sound engineer and Gwen is Dutch and works as an administrative manager at a private hospital. We all work different hours and so only see each other at sporadic intervals but we all seem to be getting along really well so far.I spend a lot of time going to see Arsenal play at their new 60,000 seat stadium which is something that I've wanted to be able to do ever since I was a kid so I'm living out a dream in that sense which is absolutely fantastic!

Life is mostly pretty good.
